What're differences between "off" and "from"
1. jump off(+platform)
You are lipping from a platform on some kind.
The definition is not as important as the place u r leaving.
Ex: He jumped off the roof.
Tips: Not focusing on what u r jumping to. it's more about what u r leaving.
✗: jump off the tree
✓: jump out of the tree(There is no platform)
jump from
When we're still jumping off sth, it's more about where we're jumping on to.
Ex: The squirrel jumped from branch to branch.
Tips: It's used metaphorically.
Role Play
A: I didn't know you have a cat.
B: Yep, this is Samy. He likes to jump from the chairs to the coach
A: What's the highest he jumps from
B: Oh, he jumped off our arm war(没听清). Thats about ten feet heigh.
A: Wow, I bet he jumped off the roof if he got stuck at there.
