Hey Wing, among our five senses, touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste, which one do you think you're most sensitive to?
I used to think it should be sight, which is really important in our life. We need to read through our eyes. We need to watch things through our eyes. Once I was in a museum and there was a room, experimental room, which was completely dark. So let us to experience how blind people survive every day. It was really, really hard. So at that time, I thought sights would be the most important thing. And then later I learned, actually, it really depends on the situation. I guess all the senses are important. That's why we have all of them, right?
And then I found when it comes to intimacy, smell, it's really important. What about you?
I agree. Yeah, I think I'm also incredibly sensitive to smell and hearing, especially smell. You know, sometimes when I walk in the street, if I smell a familiar flower scent, it will just stop me in my tracks and transport me back in time. I remember once when I catch a whiff of Bohemia on the street, I'm instantly back in my childhood. Unlike who I am right now, actually, when I was still a kid, I like climbing trees in my village and also savoring the nectar from its flowers. So when I smell the Bohemia, I think somehow these kind of flowers embodies my childhood's wildness and sweetness.
That sounds very enchanting. You remind me of some advertisement when we were kids. Remember about the rice? I don't remember what brand of that rice.
Oh, I know.
So it's an advertisement in Hong Kong TVB, right? Usually it's the scent of the rice went first in the advertisement. And then they can smell it. And you would hear the parents, usually the mom, screaming at the kids, “Come back! It's dinner time!” And then other kids would run back to their homes for the very, very aromatic rice and dinner.
