today we talk about people deal with negative emotions in American culture with shopping.
do you ever buy something when you're in bad mood ?
1. Doom spending 厄运支出
people are feeling upset about the selection, and they're going out and just spending money as a way to deal with something that feels really dark emotional.
doom , something bad, bad feeling.

eg, do you know anybody whom does doom spend ?
not really, no, most people in my role are more about experiences, obviously people shop and buy things, but they rather take that money and just do a weekend away, and maybe a term for that too.
2. retail therapy 零售疗法:纯粹为了快乐而购物,尤其是作为一种分散个人困难或失望的方式appealing your mind and heart with buying things.
eg, I'm up for a retail therapy now, the election is over, let's go to the mall.
3. overspend, spend too much.
eg, I overspend on Prime day last year, so I'm going to stay away from it this year.
4. impulse purchase/buy 冲动购买:指没有计划或思考的情况下突然购买的物品。
eg, i was in a bad mood, and i thought the jeans牛仔裤 were run sales so i make a impulse buy.
5. compulsive shopping/shopper 购物狂:一种无法控制地频繁购物的行为,通常是出于心理上的满足感而非实际需求。
eg, i can be a bit of compulsive shopper when I'm stressed.
