1. quite a ways(really far, a great distance)
Ex: She run quite a ways before running out of breath.
Ex: That mountain is quite a ways from here.
Ex: We'vegot quite a ways on this project(we made progress, a metophrical way)
2. a ways to go(both metophrical or physical)
Ex:We still have a ways to go before we get there.
Ex: We've got a ways to go on this project.(we still have a lot of progress to make.)
3. a ways off(something is far away, both for time and distance.)
Ex: The meeting is aways off.
Ex: She lives a ways off and it will take me 30 mins to get there.
👏👏👏way off(completely wrong)
4. a ways away (far away, the same meaning as a ways off)
Ex: She lives a ways away.= She lives far away.(especially for rural living)
Role Play:
A: Wow, look at that view. I'm glad we picked this hike even though it's quite a ways.
B: Definitely worth the our drive.
A:I agree. Wow, look at that cave.That could totally explore, but it's ways off.
B: That Is quite a ways away. I think we could make it though. U wanna try?
A: Let's doit. We'd better get going. We've still got a ways to go.
