Widespread广泛使用的，wide 就是很广阔啦，spread就是展开、铺开，那widespread 就是很宽、很广泛地铺开，那就是广泛使用，这是一个形容词。 Bidet就是智能马桶，我相信这个可能是一个日语直接译过来的一个发音，但我不太确定哈，bidet 就是智能马桶。然后encounter这个词我们在播客里面提到很多次了，就是遇到的意思。
Trying new food was another highlight. I decided to give it a shot and tried raw chicken at an izakaya. It was served with uncooked egg and perilla leaves, and surprisingly, it was delicious and unlike anything I'd tasted before.
Give it a shot 就是可以放手一试、试一试的意思，就give it a shot，非常形象生动。
Overall, the combination of an incredible concert, unique culinary experiences, and the joy of exploring Japan with friends made this trip truly unforgettable.
Culinary就是跟食物啊 、厨艺啊相关，就是可以用这个culinary，是一个形容词，那这里culinary experience 就是一些关于食物的一些体验 、经历。

Yes, there are two more questions. The first one, how do you think the concept of slow travel is changing the tourism industry?
I believe the concept of slow travel is significantly changing the tourism industry by encouraging people to take a more reserved and thoughtful approach to their trips. Unlike the fast-paced traveling style, the slow travel promotes taking charge of your own journey at a more relaxed pace, allowing you to deeply engage with local cultures and environments. I personally prefer slow travels because I can enjoy the local cultures, sceneries a lot more, and I can even spend some time with locals to immerse in the culture.
That's good. The other question is, has your way of traveling changed over the years, and how?

Yes, of course, my approach to traveling has definitely changed over the years. I used to be more reserved and would follow conventional tourist routes. However, recently I've become more adventurous and now prefer to take charge of my travel plans. I've even tried an electrifying trip that pushed me out of my comfort zone.

Of course, in IELTS Part 2, the question is, describe an unforgettable trip you have had. You should say when and where you went, who you went with, what you did there, and explain why you think it was enjoyable.
Can you give us an example?
Sure. One unforgettable trip I had was to Japan in December. I went with a group of close friends, and it was truly an amazing experience. My friend, who had studied in Japan, took charge of planning the itinerary. We decided to attend a concert by Imagine Dragons, which was absolutely electrifying.
Take charge of 就是负责的意思，就跟那个 be responsible for something 是有点相似的。然后当我们去旅游的时候呢，我们通常要做一个行程计划，那这个行程计划呢，就是叫做 itinerary。还有一个就是 electrifying，electrify 本身呢，就是电击的意思，然后在这里加了ing，记得那个y是不用变i的哈，就是electrifying，它就是让你全身通电，那就是让你非常兴奋、非常振奋。
The energy in the venue was incredible, although the audience was more reserved, compared to other places I've been. It was fascinating to see the cultural differences in how people enjoy live music.
Reserved，它这里reserved 本身就是保留的意思，那这里加一个d呢，就将一个动词 变成一个形容词，那它的意思就是保守的。
Our trip was packed with activities from morning to night. We explored major cities like Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo, making the most of every moment. One thing that really stood out to me was the widespread use of bidets in Japan. It was my first time encountering them everywhere, from train stations to restaurants, and it was quite convenient.
Stand out 就是非常突出的意思，就一排人站着，然后你站在外面的话，你就非常显眼，所以stand out的意思就是非常突出、非常显眼。

Well, thankfully, the bus was delayed and we all breathed a sign of relief, so this was the adventure.
Because at that moment we realized the driver's seat in China is in the left, which means the drivers drives on the right side of the road, but in Japan it’s the opposite. The driver's seat is on the right, so the drivers drive on the left. So we were in the wrong direction.
You used to study in UK. You should just be used to that.
But I never drive, you know in UK. That's why.
就是我们当时就去玩富士山，富士山其实不是在市中心嘛，它是在郊区那边，所以我们就去一个日本的餐厅吃完饭之后呢，然后Google Map就带我们去那个车站。哇，走在那个路上的话，就是伸手不见五指，好黑好黑，我们从来没有见过任何一个人经过。那当时我们终于走到那个车站的时候呢，它幸好有一个玻璃的等候室，那我们可以在里面取暖。因为第二天我们就是去看那个梦龙的演唱会嘛，所以我们就非常兴奋， 就在里面唱唱歌。突然间我们导游Yuli就说，我们好像在错的方向；我们说什么鬼。她就说我们要穿过那个高速公路，才能去到另外一边，不然的话，我们就会错过那个末班车，都不知道该怎么回家，然后马上就跑嘛，就跑去对面那里。然后呢，我们终于到那个车站的时候，幸好那个车，它发车可能晚了，然后我们最后才赶上那个车。因为后来才发现，日本跟我们中国的话是不太一样。中国的司机是在右边开，然后日本的司机是在左边开，所以我们走错方向。
跟那个英国是一样嘛，英国也是在左边开的，跟我们反方向。
但没办法，就是去到那时候，可能智商掉线了嘛。
太兴奋，只顾着玩。
So after everything, do you have any tips for our audience if they wanna travel to Japan?
Yes, of course I know you can find a lot of information online. However, here I have a few tips for you guys.
The first one is, no need to carry too much cash because Alipay and WeChat are widely accepted. You can connect your Suica card to your Apple Wallet and top up anytime, so you can pay the ticket fare and also pay in the convenience store with your Suica card.
就是Yao的第一条建议，就是不需要带太多现金，因为支付宝跟微信支付在那边都是广泛使用的，而且你可以将他们的西瓜卡，跟苹果钱包连接在一起，随时充值。
And then, number two, remember that road rules are opposite to ours. Drivers sit on the right, and they drive on the left, just like what I mentioned.
第二点就是，日本的交通规则，日本的车流方向，是跟我们相反的。司机是坐在右边，那开车是在左边。
Number three, avoid taxi, unless necessary. I once spent almost 120 yuan for just 4 kilometers. So, use public transport and walk when you can. But if you are rich enough, then just ignore this.
第三点的话，就是尽量避免打出租车，Yao就花了将近120元的人民币，只走了4公里。所以，非到必要的时候呢，尽量坐公交之类的这种公共交通工具，能走路就走路咯。当然如果你不介意的话，你用你的“钞”能力也是可以的。

对，你吃过没？
我没有吃过，但我吃过生牛肉。就是French has a cuisine called tartare. That is raw beef, which is pretty good。所以你的生鸡肉就搭配了生鸡蛋\紫苏叶、葱花\还有带酒味的酱油，然后混在一起这样吃。而且这个鸡肉是非常嫩，一点都没有生鸡肉的味道，酱油也恰到好处，这听上去挺好吃的喔。
对，我一开始其实以为跟我们白切鸡一样嘛，就是鸡骨头带血。后来发现，他说的生鸡是真的是生鸡肉。
就不是我们说的生鸡。就我们说的生鸡就是公鸡嘛。所以你说的生鸡就是公鸡。
好吧，对。但是很奇怪的是，我觉得我吃的时候没有那种，像煮熟鸡肉那种很重的鸡味，然后它那个肉的话也非常的嫩，我也不知道它是怎么做的，反正我觉得吃起来的话还挺好吃。它可能就是比鱼身稍微要韧一点点，但是整体还是非常好的。
它应该是放血放得比较彻底，所以就会那个味道会没那么重。
嗯，可能是。
但是安全吗？吃那个鸡肉。
Well, actually, in Japan, fish and meat are prepared immediately after being caught or cut. Strong flavor spices, herbs and sauces like soy sauce and wasabi have antibacterial properties that help keep bacteria at bay. Since these foods are consumed fresh, strong seasonings make them safe to eat.
其实我那个朋友，我也有问过他，我说这个安全吗。他就跟我说，其实那些鱼或是鸡肉，他们在捕捞或者是切割之后的话，就会马上就会处理，然后他们就会用他们的香料，还有一些酱料，譬如说酱油啊、还有芥末，这些的话混在一起，具有一个杀菌的作用，可以帮助抑制细菌的增长。因为这些食物是新鲜食用的嘛，而且再加上这些调味料，所以让它的那个细菌，可以保持在一个比较低的一个程度。

Okay, good. Besides food, anything else caught your attention in Japan, like anything different from here?
Well, actually our trip wasn't always smooth. Like one day after admiring Mount Fuji, we headed to a local restaurant for dinner, and after dinner on the way to the bus station, it was so dark and we saw no one around, probably because we are in the countryside. And then Google Maps led us to a station in the middle of nowhere. Well, luckily there was a glass waiting room where we could stay warm, and you know because we went for the concert, then we started to singing Imagine Dragons songs, excited for the next day's concert. Suddenly our guide Yuli said, “guys we are going the wrong way.” We were very confused. She said, “we need to cross the highway to the other side, or we will miss the last bus.” And then we ran and almost got lost, but I trusted my instinct and led us to the stop.

就是我看到那篇报导，就是说日本自动售卖机，什么东西都卖。就而且什么东西都是一盒盒，也一罐罐的，包括一些烧鸡，然后什么，我也不知道那什么猪肉三明治之类的，都是放在那个罐头里面这样卖，然后再放在那个自动售卖机里面卖。而且，最让我震惊的是，它连那个摇签，还是那个叫什么算命吗，就是包括那个在寺庙前，也有自动售卖机是给你那个算命，给一张纸你，然后告诉你最近运情怎么样，也有自动售卖机在做那个事情。然后我觉得，Wow, Japanese are crazy about vending machines.

I love sushi and sashimi. I love them a lot.
That's cool. Yeah, so actually this time I not only just tried the sashimi, the sushi, and I tried something new. I bet you never tried that before.
What is it?
So a friend of mine who studied cooking in Japan took me to an izakaya and asked if I'd ever tried raw chicken. Initially, actually, it reminded me of 白切鸡, which made me hesitant. I was like, ah, yeah, I'm a Cantonese, you know, I tried 白切鸡, but I'm not a fan of it. But I was like, maybe I should give it a try. Like the ones in Japan are probably different from the ones in Guangdong. And then I said yes.
The raw chicken was served with uncooked egg, perilla, spring onion, and soy sauce with a sake flavor. My friend instructed me to mix the egg with the chicken, scoop it with a perilla leaf, and add spring onion on top. So guess what? Surprisingly, the chicken was tender without the usual chicken flavor. And the soy sauce was perfectly balanced. It was a brand new experience for me.

Because I read some data, they have over 5.5 million of them. That being said, one of every 23 people.

They are crazy about that. I also learned that the vending machines not only sell drinks and snacks, they actually sell everything. When I learned that, I was shocked that they even have machines that sell fortunes.

My only experience with vending machines is that I noticed that they sell hot drinks and cold drinks. So you just mentioned that they sell the grilled chicken and stuff like that. I was like, what? So actually, did I go to the fake Japan? Did I just go to the other countries?
They sell them all in cans. So it's not like a fresh grilled chicken.

对，我们叫那个水箱，我们马桶不是有个水箱吗？对，我们平时有一些马桶的话，它水箱上面就是一个按钮嘛，然后按下去的话，然后就会冲水嘛。但是在那里的话，它那个冲水的按钮是在它的右边，但是在那个水箱上面的话，它就设计了一个洗手盆，所以每一次的话，我一冲完水的话，它那个洗手盆上面那个水就会自动流出来，然后我就可以洗手。如果你们很难想像的话，要不我把它放在shownotes里面吧，然后你们可以去看一看。

Yeah, I know. But I think it's very good. So actually, I did some research why bidets are so popular. Because cleanliness and personal hygiene are deeply rooted in Japanese culture. And bidets align perfectly with these values, offering a thorough cleaning method compared to traditional toilet paper. Just Japanese bathrooms are also designed with space and functionality in mind, making bidets standard features.
所以，后面的话，我就是查了一下，我就说为什么日本它那个智能马桶这么多，而且这么广泛去使用，其实是因为清洁还有个人卫生在日本文化中，就是根深蒂固，而智能马桶正好就跟这些价值观相契合，然后它提供了一种比传统卫生纸更加彻底的清洁方式；而且日本的浴室的设计，也会考虑到空间跟功能性，就他们都会留一个插座，所以就可以让这个智能马桶成为标配的设备了嘛。如果是我们播客的忠实听众，应该也记得第一期，我们讲那个水的时候，我也提到，就是我个人是智能马桶的爱好者、拥护者。
It sounds like in Japanese culture, they like to do things to some extreme extent. Like, I remember I read news about the waste sorting, and Japanese also do it in a very extreme way. I mean when I say extreme, they take it very, very serious about the waste sorting.

然后他们也很有礼貌，就是每次拿完的笔记都相互道谢，然后鞠躬什么的，他有时候我帮完他们，他们也会给我道谢然后鞠躬。然后我当时就跟傻瓜一样站在那里，因为我不知道我要不要回敬他，要鞠一下躬，但是因为我们没有鞠躬这个文化，所以当时就站在那里有点尴尬。但是他们整体感觉都是比较很有礼貌，确实是。
嗯，是啊。我就刚才想到一个很搞笑的事情，就是你讲起那个鞠躬文化。因为我们好像一般来说的话，我们帮完别人或是别人帮完我们的时候，我们就稍微点头，然后致谢，或是说一声谢谢之类的。然后日本人就很喜欢鞠躬，我当时有一次在日本街头的时候呢，就看到对面马路有两个人互相道别，然后互相鞠了四五次躬。对，然后我就说，对，这个鞠躬文化确实还挺好的，但是好像a bit too much.

So one thing that really impressed me was the widespread use of bidets in Japan. Like every bathroom I visited had one. Whether it was in the restaurants, train stations, tourist boards or homes. I even saw a bidet with a built-in wash basin. After flushing, the water would automatically flow for hand washing. It was incredibly convenient.
就是我在日本的时候呢，还有一件事情让我非常印象深刻。他们智能马桶真的是应用非常非常的广泛，我每去到一个洗手间肯定会有一个智能马桶，不管是餐厅里面的、火车站、游客景点、或者是我住的airbnb、或是酒店，全都是智能马桶。然后，还有一个非常搞笑的就是，我们平时智能马桶的话，就直接就是一个马桶上面有个智能板嘛，但是有一个智能马桶它让我印象非常深刻，它的那个冲水是在它的旁边右边，那马桶的抽水桶上面呢，它是有一个洗手盆，所以每一次我一冲完水的话，那个水就会自动流出来，然后让我去洗手，所以我就觉得，哦，好方便呀这个。
