EP26 「繁衍生息 MULTIPLY」 策展人与艺术家现场导览on-site tour

本期播客是艺仓美术馆就新开幕的艺术家群展「繁衍生息-中国当代艺术中的复刻与倍增」而发起的策展人Barbara Pollack与艺术家刘月、薛若哲、谢墨凛、武子杨、王庆松现场导览。

This episode of the podcast is initiated by Modern Art Museum Shanghai in conjunction with the curator Barbara Pollack and artists Liu Yue, Xue Ruozhe, Xie Molin, Wu Ziyang, and Wang Qingsong for on-site tour of the newly opened group exhibition "MULTIPLY!!!: Power in Numbers in Contemporary Chinese Art".

我们从展览出发，用探索心态放眼于海外，以研究方式聚焦于本土。基于策展人Barbara Pollack的外部视角对中国当代艺术的审视，把经由复制和重复而产生的图像倍增效应视为方法论，以此梳理十余位极具代表性的本土艺术家的总体创作特点。

Modern Art Museum Shanghai presents the group exhibition "MULTIPLY!!!: Power in Numbers in Contemporary Chinese Art," curated by Barbara Pollack, featuring Chinese artists. We start from the exhibition, exploring overseas with an investigative mindset while focusing on the local scene. Taking curator Barbara Pollack's external perspective on contemporary Chinese art, we view the amplification effect of images generated through multiplication and repetition as a methodology, thereby outlining the overall creative characteristics of more than ten highly representative.

The participating artists in this exhibition include:

Aaajiao、Ding Yi、Liu Yue、Ma Qiusha、Bird Head、Wu Jian'an、Wang Qingsong、Wu Ziyang、Xie Molin 、Xu Guanyu 、Xue Rouzhe.

【策展人介绍】

Barbara Pollack 芭芭拉·波洛克

作为一名策展人、教育工作者和作家，芭芭拉·波洛克自20世纪80年代末以来一直参与全球当代艺术工作。她是非盈利组织Art at a Time Like This的联合创始人，为致力于解决21世纪紧迫问题的艺术家提供自由表达的平台。

作为中国当代艺术领域的资深从业者，芭芭拉·波洛克于2022年在亚洲协会（Asia Society）策划了《镜像：中国身份的转变》，2015年在橙县艺术博物馆（Orange County Museum of Art）组织了美国首次中国青年艺术家群展《我这一代》。她的学术论文《陆扬：艺术家vs.虚拟形象》发表于学术期刊《屏幕身体》（Screen Bodies）。

芭芭拉·波洛克著有Brand New Art from China: A Generation on the Rise, Bloomsbury, 2018和The Wild, Wild East: An American Art Critic’s Adventures in China, Timezone 8, 2010。她为众多艺术家撰写文章，包括刘野、李松松、林天苗、王功新、赵赵、孙逊和屠宏涛等。芭芭拉曾获得亚洲文化协会奖学金和安迪·沃霍尔艺术评论奖。

As a curator, educator and writer, Pollack has been involved in global contemporary art since the late 1980s. She is the co-founder of Art at a Time Like This, a nonprofit organization providing a platform for free expression to artists addressing pressing issues of the 21st century.

A leading expert on Chinese contemporary art, Pollack curated Mirror Image: A Transformation of Chinese Identity at Asia Society in 2022 and My Generation: Young Chinese Artists, the first show of Chinese younger artists in the United States, which appeared at the Orange County Museum of Art in 2015. Her scholarly essay, Lu Yang: Artist vs. Avatar, was published in Screen Bodies, an academic journal.

Pollack has published two books on her research in China: Brand New Art from China: A Generation on the Rise (Bloomsbury, 2018) and The Wild, Wild East: An American Art Critic’s Adventures in China (Timezone 8, 2010). Pollack has contributed major essays on many artists including as Liu Ye, Li Songsong, Lin Tianmiao, Wang Gongxin, Zhao Zhao, Sun Xun, and Tu Hongtao. Several of her essays were included in the China Art Book, published by Dumont Literatur in 2007. Based on her extensive interest in this field, she has been awarded to Asia Cultural Council fellowships and a Andy Warhol Arts Writer grant.

余光照

艺仓美术馆联合创始人暨馆长，毕业于中国台湾台北科技大学及台湾大学，主修电机工程、计算机、英美文学及法文。策展人，出版人，翻译家及作家。曾翻译包括《搏击俱乐部》等英法文传记及小说，并参与法国戏剧创作。创办台版《PLAYBOY》、《FHM男人帮》、美国《MAXIM风度》中国版、美国时代出版《INSTYLE型时代》中国版等杂志，担任出版人暨总编辑。2010年起创办艺仓美术馆并担任馆长。
Derek Yu
Director & Co-founder of Modern Art Museum Shanghai, graduated from Taipei University of Technology & Taiwan University in Taiwan (China). Majored in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, English Literature, and French. After graduating, he engaged in English and French literary biography and novel translation. He has translated such as "Fight Club" and participated in the creation of dramas in the French Marseille Theater. He has successively founded the Chinese(Taiwan) editions of "PLAYBOY" and "FHM", the Chinese edition of "MAXIM", and "INSTYLE" , served as the publisher and chief editor.
