Scentinel结合了scent香气和sentinel守卫的意向，象征着我们项目的主线：用萜类的香味助力视障女性安心自主地度过经期，做月经自主的守护者。我们用合成生物学手段改造酵母，生产萜类物质，用香味的有条件释放指示月经的到来和卫生巾更换的时间。我们希望让女性的声音被听见，让视障人士的困境被听见，更希望传统意义上的弱势群体、少数群体参与到STEM研究中。

Scentinel, a word combining scent and sentinel, symbolizes terpene scents our team used in our iGEM project as a solution to the struggles facing visually-impaired women during their menstrual periods. We use synthetic biology to produce terpenoids with yeast fermentation. Then, the scent is used in various hygiene products to help women identify the start and flow of their cycle with smell instead of sight.

In the first episode of the inclusivity theme, my teammate Zhang Liyu, who mainly participates in the human practice department, and I discussed the original intention of our involvement in menstrual equity activities, the HP activities conducted by our iGEM team, our insights, and our research and thoughts on how to assist visually impaired individuals in participating in scientific research activities.
