Paul thinks that if you are jacked it must be painful to wear clothes that aren't too small. Arthur says gym goers are just the latest hobbyists, like model train or stamp collectors. One caller is finished with China and the US even though she's got a green card. At 34, where can she go next? Another caller is on the fence about the feasibility of cross-cultural romance and the last caller asks us to talk about the term 恋爱脑, which neither host has any experience with at all.

Listener questions

32:26 The caller is from China but has a green card in America. After 15 years in the US, she doesn’t want to live in China or the US. She’s 34. Is it too late for her to escape the “卷“ and move to a chiller European country?

43:38 Are successful cross-cultural relationships even possible? Can cultural obstacles to long-term romantic connections be overcome?

1:03:56 What do you think about the word “恋爱脑“?

1:16:38 How often will we release the English pod? Maybe once or twice a month. Depends…

1:17:40 This is not a passion project. We are full of bad ideas. Why not do something else with our time?

The key to long term relationship, imo, is about bridging gaps that can’t be resolved by meeting somewhere in the middle, whether the gaps are cultural or any other kind. The size of the gap is only one aspect to the management; skill and willingness to put in the work might be more integral to its success.
